Letter-writing enjoyed a renaissance during World War II. Letters became the only means of communication between friends and family separated by the conflict. Letters of all sorts were written: letters of condolence, love letters, letters with news from home. To assist novice writers Foulsham's brought out a wartime reprint of their letter-writing guide first published in 1925.With no updates or concessions to the chaged circumstances of the time one wonders how many of the specimen letters provided were of use.
To open, Robert had a pressing question to ask of Winnie.

With the question settled it only remained to broadcast the happy news.

No such happy outcome yet for Kathleen and Stephen.

Elsewhere though the course of true love had not been running smooth for Fred and Edith, or Isabel and Jack.

Meanwhile the unsual social whirl of motor tours and country house parties continued.
